Introduction

The project, implemented over ten months by SATRA with support from KSCF US, focused on key issues such as child labor, trafficking, marriage, sexual abuse, access to education, and protection from abuse and exploitation.

Objective-

  • Reporting and Reduction of Child Abuse: Ensure proper reporting and reduction of child labor, trafficking, marriage, and sexual abuse.

  • Access to Education: Enhance educational opportunities for vulnerable children.

  • Strengthening Protection Mechanisms: Empower VLCPC and CMPO to bolster child protection infrastructure.

  • Community Awareness: Raise awareness about child rights and protection laws..

Implementation Strategy

  • Stakeholder Engagement: Extensive consultations with local authorities, community leaders, and stakeholders in 450 villages.

  • Capacity Building: Training sessions on child rights, protection laws, identification of vulnerable children, and reporting mechanisms.

  • Direct Interventions: Setting up village marriage registers to detect child marriages.

  • Awareness campaigns on child rights and protection.

  • Legal support for vulnerable families.

  • Pledge-taking by village headmen and community members against child marriages

Objective-

Reduction in Child Labor, Trafficking, Marriages, and Abuse:

  • 15 FIRs registered and 148 children rescued from labor and trafficking.

  • Interventions in 33 child marriages and persuasion in 290 cases.

  • Support provided to 182 children in cases of sexual abuse.

  • Improved Access to Education: Increased school enrollment and decreased dropout rates, with 54 dropouts re-enrolled.

  • Strengthened Child Protection Mechanisms: Enhanced collaboration among stakeholders for quicker response to abuse and exploitation.

Community Awareness: 

  • Increased awareness of child rights, evidenced by active participation in campaigns and improved reporting. 

  • Over 519,132 group pledges, 19,231 family pledges, and 276,651 individual pledges collected..

Conclusion

The project made significant strides in protecting and promoting children's rights, demonstrating the positive impact of focused interventions. Through collaboration, innovative strategies, and community engagement, a strong foundation has been laid for continued progress in ensuring a safe and nurturing environment for children in the district.
